IDSA's website are back up and running again!! It was shutted down due with switched server and it took longer to get the site back up. There are few changes on website, so go take a look! IDSA would like to apologise for our website being down for a while.

Final Team Register to ICSD for 21st Deaflympics

1st August 2009

IDSA has register full final participant to ICSD for 21st Deaflympics. 40 athletes & 21 staffs will be travel to Taipei. They will leave Dublin on 31 August at 9.45am and return back on 17 September at 2.10pm.

Rino Giglione, Ireland Men's Manager, has completed the selection of 21 men to fill Ireland Squad to the 21st Deaflympics in Taipei, Taiwan 2009.

40 Years IDSA Sports Book now on sale

IDSA delighted to inform you that 40 Years IDSA Sports Book is now on sale. Cost 30e to buy Sports Book and you can buy it at IDSA office on every Tuesday evening between 7-9pm. If Tuesday night doesn't suit you, you can contact IDSA Administrator, irishdeafsports@gmail.com or text 087 1349877, for make arrangement at IDSA office.

If you wish IDSA to post to you, it will cost you extra 3.50 euro for the stamp. We only post to you once we receive 33.50e cheque or postal order from you. Make a payable to
"Irish Deaf Sports Association".

40th Book Launch & Press Conference for Deaflympics at Croke Park
20th July 2009

Having reached 40 years of Deaf Sports, we published a lovely 240 colour production that covered 11 different sports played by the Deaf in Ireland and abroad.
Croker Park Hogan rooms was the venue for the Launch on 17 July with attended by 300 guests, it featured screaming of our archives of the past 40 years, launched by Marie Ahern of Irish Sports Council.

After that, the IDSA President, Laurence Coogan announced the Irish Deaf teams for the 21 Summer Deaflympics in Taipei, Taiwan on September 2009.
Ireland will be represented in Athletics, Badminton, Men’s Football, Swimming and Water Polo. The teams are positive to add to the 16 Gold, 14 Silver & 10 Bronze medals already achieved at Deaflympics.

Irish Deaf/Hearing International, Eoin Nolan (St. Vincents WP) will lead a strong Water Polo and Joseph Watson (Waterford Crystal FC), a former Ireland hearing Junior International, will play with Men’s Football team in quest for medals.

The Teams will depart on 31 August and return on 17 September 2009.

Wayne Reid is selected Athletic for Deaflympics
15th July 2009


IDSA President, Laurence Coogan, is proud to confirmed that Wayne Reid is selected to represent Ireland Deaf Athletic, along with John Fennell. Wayne will complete 5,000m, 10,000m and marathon at Taipei.

Wayne is not just an athletic but he is currently doing Triathlon (Swimming/Running/Cycle) with Athlone Triathlon Club.
